Do you know what a call to action, or CTA, is? If you’re not using them, you’re missing out on an incredibly simple tool that offers several benefits. A CTA is just a sentence or question used at the end of a blog post that invites the reader to do something. These few words have the potential to help you reach a variety of goals you may have for your blog or business. Read on to learn more about calls to actions and how to craft them successfully.

About Calls to Action

A call to action tells your audience what they should be doing. The wonderful thing about these sentences or questions is that you get to decide how to word them in order to direct your audience to complete the action you desire. You may want them to engage with your content. Perhaps you want them to sign up for your mailing list or promotion. Maybe your desire is to generate sales and send them to your online store. Whatever it is, you can craft a CTA that encourages them to follow through with your wishes and helps you to achieve your end goal.

Tips for Writing CTAs

It’s important to be clear and concise when writing your calls to action. You’ll stand a better chance of achieving your goals if your readers understand what you want them to do. Use strong action verbs. These types of words include, “buy,” “click,” “subscribe,” “shop,” “download,” and “visit.” You also want to use words that instill or provoke an emotional response, as these can be more effective and create a sense of urgency. Don’t forget to provide a reason for following through on your CTA. Addressing an individual’s pain point or showing them what following your call to action can do for them is a great way to motivate readers to act. These are just a few tips for writing effective CTAs.

Ways to Craft CTAs That Convert

Adding your CTA to the bottom of your post is one of the most common, and useful, methods for spurring action. If you’re looking to get more engagement with your content, ask readers to leave a comment. Request shares to social media if you’d like to spread the word about your post, content, service, or product. Encourage them to visit an affiliate website if your goal is to boost commissioned sales. Remind them to sign up for your mailing list for more great content when you want to grow your subscribers. You get the gist.

Crafting calls to action at the end of your blog posts can be an easy, yet incredibly effective, way to increase sales. These simple tools can make a huge difference in your bottom line and reach. Give them a try for yourself.
