We talked about writing a book and the benefits it can bring you as a blogger in yesterday’s post. Today, I’d like to expand on that concept and get into some of the nitty-gritty of creating and selling books. Specifically, we’re talking about digital or eBooks here. Developing and publishing eBooks is easier than you might think and offers many benefits. Read on to learn more about creating and selling eBooks through your blog.

About eBooks

eBooks are books in digital format. You can read them on a computer, a phone, or an e-reader meant specifically for downloading and reading eBooks. These books can be any number of pages, though they often tend to be shorter in length than traditional books. They also usually cost less, which can make them an easier sell when you’re just starting out and establishing a name for yourself. Self-publishing eBooks is a relatively quick route to making your book available, and you have all the control. They also offer high earning potential.

How to Create Them

It’s really not that difficult to create an eBook. You can start out by writing it in a word processing program, then convert it to a PDF. You can then create a PayPal button that links to your account to allow people to send you the cost of the eBook and email them the PDF file directly. You may need to look into services such as eJunkie or Amazon as you begin to sell more copies. They take care of payments and distribution for you.

Ways to Make Sales

Another benefit of these services is that they can help you set up affiliate programs so that others can help promote your book for a commission. Recruiting affiliates is a great way to spread the word about your book and to send more traffic to your blog. In addition, be sure to utilize your email list. Send out an announcement to your list about your new eBook. Send them updates with each newsletter. Be sure the people who already love what you have to say know about your offerings. Along with adding a link to purchase your eBook in your own relevant blog posts, you can write guest posts on others’ blogs in order to spark interest and get the word out. Share it on your social media pages. Social media ads are also useful to build some momentum.

Keep these suggestions in mind when thinking about creating eBooks. They can be a fun and lucrative way to monetize your blog, create authority, and gain new followers.
